SUSI Global Student Leaders on Economic Empowerment Program (Tunisia)

 Deadline Date: December 19, 2023

The U.S. Embassy in Tunisia is pleased to announce the 2024 Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Global Student Leaders on Economic Empowerment.

This intensive exchange opportunity provides undergraduate students with a deeper understanding of the United States, while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills. The program includes seminar discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures as well as educational travel, site visits, leadership activities, and volunteering within the local community. Through all of these engagements, participants will examine topics like trade, investment, financial literacy, banking, microfinance, organizational development and management, innovation, emerging markets and risk analysis, strategic business planning, corporate social responsibility, and minorities in entrepreneurship.

The Institutes consist of a four-week academic residency with a balanced series of seminar discussions, readings, group presentations and lectures. Site visits, leadership development, cultural activities, and community service complement the coursework and academic sessions.  If conditions allow, the Institutes will include a one-week integrated study tour in the United States. The program will focus on developing participants’ critical thinking, communication, decision-making, and managerial abilities while boosting their knowledge about the development, history, challenges, and successes of U.S. entrepreneurial enterprises, including social enterprises, business leadership and women’s economic empowerment, in the United States and globally.

Program Dates
  • The five-week program will occur in the United States sometime between June and July 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Candidates must be Tunisians ages 18-25 years old with no previous experience in the United States. Participants must be undergrads who have completed at least one semester of university and will have at least one semester remaining in their studies after the end of the SUSI program.
